As Leonardo da Vinci dissected the human body and recorded his findings in his notebooks so this series of portraits dissect and record 3D digital scans of my own body. It is a visual autopsy of the digital being
The distortion is structural, not imagined.
How space, time, form and consequent perception of reality is distorted by the characteristics of the media and the to and fro transition between analogue and digital realities is the core aim in a series of projects of which the portraits are amongst the first.
My body, the 3D digital scan and back to an analogue format (oil on canvas portraits) starts to record and look at these transitions.
Now featured as part of Slade School of Art's 'Creative in Isolation' collection.

Self Portrait (2019-)
Unity Game Engine Programme,
This project plays with the shifting boundaries around what we regard as ‘real’.
This self portrait is materialised using android 3D scanning software, Unity Engine, and Facerig (all of which are free softwares) to create a never-ending virtual interpretation of my face’s geometry, movement and being.
The premise is to treat data itself, in the context of the Second Digital Turn (Mario Carpo, 2017), as a material - one that is now in even greater abundance than garbage itself - and to explore how vernacular processes are incorporating this new stuff into the the real and virtual
environments, and everything in between.
This portrait was made using a 3D scanning app available on the android store, Blender and Unity (all are available for free).
